Blue Steele is a quartet from Albuquerque, NM, and compete in the nine-state Rocky Mountain District of the Barbershop Harmony Society. In July 2015, they competed at the international competion held in Pittsburgh, PA, and are the 2015 Rocky Mountain District Quartet Champions.
Shawn Mondragon, Lead
Shawn has many credits to his barbershop career -- is a three-time Rocky Mountain District (RMD) Quartet Champion, and was a Gold Medal Quartet Champion at the International Buckeye Invitational. Shawn has served on the RMD Board as Marketing & Public Relations for the district, as well as the Music and Performance Vice President. Shawn also serves the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS) as a Presentation Judge and Coach. When he is not singing, he can be found “on the air” as morning radio personality, “Chaz Malibu“, on BIG 98.5 in Albuquerque. He also owns and operates the popular restaurant, Quesadilla Grille, in Old Town, Albuquerque.
Greg Titus, Bass
Greg is a second generation barbershopper originally from Ohio, and recently moved back to Albuquerque after spending several years in California. While there, he was a founding member of the 2008 3rd place Barbershop Harmony Society International Bronze Medalist Chorus, “Voices in Harmony.” He also held numerous positions in the organization including VP of Marketing & Public Relations and President, and also served as Marketing & Public Relations Chairman of the Far Western District. Greg is a U.S. Air Force veteran and currently a self-employed Marketing and Design Consultant.
Jamie Arrington, Baritone
Jamie has been singing barbershop since he was 13 years old, and is also a second generation barbershopper. He has sung in several quartets over the years. His best known quartet, “Special Feature”, won a 5th Place Bronze Medal at the Barbershop Harmony Society International Quartet Contest in Calgary, Canada, in 1993. Jamie has been Assistant Director for the San Diego Sun Harbor Chorus and Assistant Director, then Director of the Reno Silver Dollar Chorus. In 2007, he moved his family back to Albuquerque and a year later, became the New Mexichords' Assistant Director. Since 2011, Jamie is the Director of the New Mexichords, and also serves as Musical Director of Christ Methodist Church in Albuquerque.
Stew Bush, Tenor
Stew spent most of his barbershop career in the Mid Atlantic District, BHS, before moving out west. He has competed for over 40 years at the district and international levels alike. In addition to Blue Steele, he also sings in a quartet with several international quartet medalists as a professional singing group, “Last Resort”, with performances in entertainment towns like Reno, NV, and Branson, MO. He spends his non-singing time in Aviation Management.
